Center for Arkansas History and Culture (CAHC) - Located in the Arkansas Studies Institute at 401 President Clinton Avenue, collects and makes available to the public resources on Arkansas history and the region. These materials include letters, legal documents, photographs, maps, architectural drawings, pamphlets, books, journals, newspapers, and other materials. In total, the collections comprise about 10,000 linear feet, 70,000+ images, and approximately 8,000 books.
The Arkansas State Archives (formerly Arkansas History Commission) was created by the General Assembly in 1905. Inspired and guided during its early years by John Hugh Reynolds, the Commission is the official archives of the state, responsible for collecting and preserving the source materials of the history of Arkansas. The agency continues the tradition of organizing and maintaining the state and local history of Arkansas by collecting manuscript materials, census records, military records, family histories, and various county, state and federal records.
